Turn-Key stops Courvas

The Turn-Key Controllers extended their unbeaten streak to five games Wednesday night by icing the North Okanagan Soccer League-leading Salmon Arm Courvas 2-0 at Marshall Field #5.

After a scoreless, tightly contested first half, Andrew Pool broke the deadlock after an excellent marauding run and feed by Bryce Patterson.

While Courvas continued to apply pressure,  Jeremy Kler extended the Turn Key lead late in the half, latching onto a clever flicked header by Evan Moore, and unleashing a deadly 12-yard strike off the post and in.

Stalwart defending from the Turn-Key back line and exceptional goalkeeping from Gregg Douma secured the win in the final minutes despite Courvas pressure, including a shot off the post.

Turn-Key improved to 4-0-1, while Courvas fell to 5-1.

Monashee Surveying FC reached the .500 mark by ambushing the Salmon Arm Outlaws 8-0 at Marshall Field #2.

Monashee (3-3-1) had total domination on a wet, sloppy pitch that created more scoring chances then expected.

Ryan Sharp and Dom Oshanek each pocketed deuces for the Surveyors, while singles came from  Nick Croken, Nathan Whitling, Cam Cleary and Darren Nobrega.

The Adidas goal of the night came from a cross on the right to Oshanek, who finished it with a diving header short side. James Inglis recorded the shutout. The Outlaws fell to 0-6.

The Nation of Domination Eagle Homes showed no mercy on Peters Tirecraft with an 8-2 win at Blackburn Park in Salmon Arm.

Shane Whitley scored the first goal for Tirecraft, burying a rebound after the keeper got an arm on Torin Hampton’s 25-yard corker.

Brock Ream scored in the second half for the 1-6 Tirecraft, who got relentless digging from Ben Osbourn. Eagle Homes went to 4-1.

 

The North Enderby Timber at Revelstoke Stallions match was postponed.
