Twisters gymnastics athletes Robert Watson and Ken Ikeda are gearing up for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, and the Elite Canada event in Halifax earlier this month helped them on their way.
The pair have been named as part of the national team, and as the Games approach, each of the meets the senior team attends is used to consider eligibility for Rio.
Watson won silver on floor, and bronze on rings and horizontal bars, while Ikeda earned bronze in pommel horse.
Meanwhile at the Langley Invitational on Feb. 13 and 14, several Twisters athletes picked up hardware.
Medal winners included: Jacob Ames (silver-vault, Level 3 U13), Hayden Isfeld (bronze-pommel horse, Level 3 U13), DJ Tarbaj (bronze-all-around, vault and parallel bars and gold on floor, Level 4 13 and up), Brogan Neufeld (bronze on floor and on rings, Level 4 13 and up), Ethan Ikeda (gold in all-around, floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and high bars, Elite 3), Kyle Machibroda-Ames (gold in all-around, floor, parallel bars, and high bars, National Open), Elijah Horner (gold- vault and silver- pommel horse, National Open) and Brendan Ansell (bronzefloor and pommel horse, National Open).
