Abbotsford’s Twisters Gymnastics, competing as part of Team BC at the 2015 Canadian Gymnastics Championships in Gatineau, Que., came away with podium finishes over the course of the six-day tourney, which ran May 26-31.
Ashlynn Skulstad in women’s open competition won two national medals, along with silver on the floor exercise and bronze on the balance beam, finishing 10th all-around. Teammate Marquita Morrison secured a bronze with the national open team.
In men’s senior competition, Ken Ikeda clinched the gold on the pommel horse and placed fourth on the parallel and horizontal bars.
Tamara Skulstad in the women’s national novice division finished fifth on the floor exercise.
Rounding out the men’s senior category, Zachary Clay finished fifth on the pommel horse. Robert Watson finished fourth on the rings and sixth all around. Steven Chaplin was sixth on the parallel bars and high bar, while Julian Geisler finished 12th on the rings and 17th all-around.
In the men’s novice category, Cohen Kiers for Team Bronze finished fourth place on the parallel bars and fifth on the horizontal bars, and 10th all around.
Dawson Friesen secured 10th place on the pommel horse in the men’s open, and 13th all-around.
Team BC also won the men’s national novice team title and claimed bronze in the women’s national open division.
