Two Abbotsford Junior Cardinals claimed gold with Team BC at the Western Canada Summer Games on Sunday.
Brett Bass (outfielder) and Cade Smith (first baseman and pitcher) were part of the provincial contingent that toppled Saskatchewan 7-3 in the finals in Wood Buffalo, Alta.
Team BC played six games, finishing 5-1 through the tournament. They notched the most runs of the four participating provinces at 53 and managed the least runs-against with 17.
B.C.’s only loss came to Alberta in the round-robin stage.
Bass and Smith joined up with Team BC following their B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League playoff run that ended with their club finishing fourth with a 2-3 record.
