Apex Freestyle Club will host the first of the BC Freestyle Series competitions on Jan. 13-15.
This is the first competition of the season and one of two qualifying events for the Canadian Junior Nationals. “This is a great opportunity to see some really talented youths ripping it up,” a BC Freestyle Series spokesperson said.
There will be over 100 competitors ages eight and up competing from Apex Freestyle Club, Whistler/Blackcomb Freestyle Club, Silver Star Freestyle Club, Big White Freestyle Club, Revelstoke Freestyle Club, Vancouver Freestyle Club, Mount Washington Freestyle Club, Kimberly Freestyle Club and the BC Provincial Freestyle Team.
Among those representing the BC Mogul Team at the BC Series this year is Peter Stubbs of Mount Washington who will be displaying his Back Tuck and Lincon Loop. At the Canadian Selections held recently at Apex (with all members earning the right to compete in the upcoming Noram to be held Feb. 13-14 at Apex), Stubbs finished 22nd.
Meanwhile Donnie Ottosen of Mount Washington is among the members attending the BC Series from the BC Pipe & Park Team. He has qualified to throw tricks such as Misty, Rodeo, and Front Flip and Back Flip.
After a serious impression in Colorado just before the Christmas holiday the next comp for the BC Pipe & Park Team is next weekend’s North Face Pipe & Park Open Series at Whistler on the Olympic Course.
