Two sides to 2018 Valley Husker schedule

The 10 game BC Football Conference slate is home heavy to start and road heavy to finish.

The B.C. Football Conference 2018 schedule was released Tuesday and it’s slightly more tolerable for the Huskers.

The team opens August 5 with a home game against the Vancouver Island Raiders, followed by two more home games, August 11 vs Langley and August 18 vs the Okanagan Sun.

Chilliwack’s first road game sees them traveling to Kamloops to face the Broncos August 25.

Where the past few seasons have seen the Huskers away for three or more weeks at a time, their longest stretch away from Exhibition Stadium this season will be a two-weeks. But they do that twice in the final month, traveling to Langley and Kelowna in weeks seven and eight and goign to Victoria and Nanaimo in weeks 10 and 11.

The lone home game in a five-week season-ending stretch is Sept. 29 vs the Westshore Rebels.

“We finish the year with four out of five on the road and that’s not favourable, but the flip-side of that is opening with three straight at home, so there are positives to it as well,” said Husker head coach Bob Reist. ” You can always look through and say this or that is going to be a tough stretch. At the end of the day, we have five difficult home games and five difficult road games ahead of us and it starts week one, here at the Cornfield vs VI.”
