Parksville racers place well at Grouse Mountain event

Sylvi Nymann of the Mount Washington Ski Club earned a second, a third, a sixth and a seventh in her races this past weekend at Mount Cypress.

On Feb. 9-10, the U12 Mount Washington Ski club racers were competing for the Tyee Cup at Grouse Mountain.

On Saturday it was single runs slalom. The first run was stubbies, and the second run full gate. On Sunday, the first run was a  kombi (a combination of slalom and giant slalom) and the second run a giant slalom.

Emilly Johnston placed fourth, fourth, fifth and third in the respective runs. Sylvi Nymann had a third, second, sixth and seventh. Kieran Nilsen was third, second, sixth and second. Christopher Raduy was 11th, 12th, 16th, and 15th. Kieran Harley placed 13th, 23rd, 11th, and eighth.

Luke Hoefer was ninth, 28th, eighth and in giant slalom went out and did not finish. Eric Luchies had a 19th, 15th, 15th and a ninth. Ava Langevin disqualified, then got a sixth, disqualified again and got another sixth.

Mount Washington may not have brought home gold, but they were close and all of their finishes were in top 30.
