Tyler O’Neill continues making it look easy in Canada’s toughest hardball league for high schoolers.

The catcher from Maple Ridge has been punishing pitchers in the B.C. Premier Baseball League, leading the league with a .561 average through his first 41 at bats. He also has three home runs and 25 RBI for the Langley Blaze.

Last year he was the BCPNL rookie of the year, was named the top offensive player, and was a league all-star. He led the league in home runs with six, and RBI with 39.

Considering he put up those power numbers through 128 at bats, O’Neill is on a pace to improve considerably on those league-leading numbers.

Kyle Ross, a Grade 10 pitcher who has emerged as a bona fide prospect, has won his first four starts of the season, and has allowed only 16 hits and five walks in 25 innings pitched. He has 14 strikeouts on the year. The six-foot-four right hander has two more seasons in the BC BPL.

On April 28, he had a no-hitter going against the Nanaimo Pirates, and finished with one hit allowed in 6.2 innings.
