Tyler Tardi has skipped his B.C. team into the next stage of competition at the 2017 Canadian U18 Boys Curling Championship in Moncton, New Brunswick.
The Cloverdale resident led Team B.C. to a 5-0 (win-loss) record to finish atop Pool B in the first round robin stage. Tardi, who curls out of the Langley Curling Club, is joined by Burnaby’s Sterling Middleton and Victoria’s Derek Chandler and Scott Gray on Team B.C.
Team B.C. completed the perfect run through the first stage with a 7-4 win over Quebec Thursday morning. Their closest game was an 8-7 victory over Alberta Wednesday evening, which followed a pair of 7-5 triumphs over New Brunswick and Ontario. Northwest Territories fell to Team B.C. 12-1 in the tournament’s first game on Tuesday.
Team B.C. moved into the six-team second round, along with Ontario and Quebec of Pool B and the top three teams from Pool A, which were Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia and Northern Ontario. After the second stage concludes tomorrow evening (Friday) the top four teams will advance to Saturday’s semifinals.
