The U12C Duncan RiverCats continued their perfect softball season last Sunday, beating Sooke at Evans Park to improve to 24-0.

Playing in the 16-team South Vancouver Island League, the RiverCats have rolled through league games in addition to winning a pair of tournaments.

“Our girls are a very dedicated group that practice once a week and play between two to four times,” head coach Darrin St. Amand said. “Years ago there used to be a league of four teams in just Duncan. This year our association has teams in U8, U10, U12C, U14B, U16 and U18 based out of Duncan all playing in the SVI league.

“Next year our team will be stepping into U12B, which is more competitive and will hopefully give the girls more of a challenge.”

The RiverCats are gearing up for their regional tournament in Sooke this weekend, hoping to wrap up the season on a high note.
