The 100 Mile House Curling Club is hosting the 2016/17 U18 Curling Zone playdowns.
The age eligibility for the 2017 BC U18 Curling Championships is persons aged 17 and under as of June 30, 2016.
In addition, playdowns for the BC U18 Championships have switched from eight zones to five inter-regional events. 100 Mile House is hosting this event for Curl BC.
The local club will field a team in both the girls’ and boys’ divisions, with competition coming from Prince George and Smithers fielding a boys team only.
Prince George boys and girls are the defending zone champions. Last year, saw a sudden-death play down between 100 Mile and Prince George with Prince George emerging as the winner.
100 Mile will be on the hunt for the championship again this year.
People who are interested in coming down to view some of British Columbia’s great up-and-coming curlers can come to the 100 Mile Curling Club in the South Cariboo Rec. Centre on Wrangler Way on Jan. 14.
Draws will start at 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Jan. 14, with the same draw times as required on Jan. 15.
There are great viewing areas in the club with stands at the ice level and in the lounge upstairs.
