Delta’s Kylee Walker plans to don UBC Okanagan colours next year as a member of the Heat women’s soccer program.
The Burnsview Secondary School senior has signed on with Claire Paterson’s squad for the 2016 Canada West season.
“Kylee has been on our radar for a couple of years now and we are very excited that she has decided to sign with our program,” said Paterson, the Heat’s head coach. “She is a very good athlete, who brings a lot of physicality to her game along with her solid technical abilities. Kylee has strong soccer background coming through a couple of quality club programs and we are looking forward to working with her in the fall.”
Walker is a versatile athlete and plays various positions, including fullback, centre-mid and forward.
In addition to being the captain of her high school team, the Burnsview Griffins, Walker is also a member of the TSS Elite Black side which plays in the Metro Women’s Soccer Premier League.
She also won the Provinicial Cup in 2013 with the Surrey United girls, and spent several years playing with B.C. provincial teams. The 5-foot-7 student-athlete is also a multi-sport competitor, playing both volleyball and basketball for her high school.
Walker is excited about the transition to post secondary athletics and education.
“I have worked towards playing university soccer for my entire youth career, and have spent countless hours training and preparing, “Walker said. “I believe UBC Okanagan will be a good fit for me, and am looking forward to the program and working with great coaches and meeting new teammates.”
Walker plans to enter the Arts program at UBC Okanagan.
