UBC Okanagan Heat women’s soccer players Hayley Carlson and Jennifer Kidd have earned Academic All Canadian awards from the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) for their accomplishments this past season.
Carlson, a third year defender for head coach Claire Paterson’s Heat women’s soccer team, hailing from Hunting Hills High School in Red Deer has placed herself on the Academic All Canadian award list in all three of her seasons at UBC Okanagan. A captain of the team, Carlson has maintained an average well above 80 percent and is three years into her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Kidd, from Richmond, has finished her career with the Heat women’s soccer team, earning her second consecutive All Canadian award, another standout on Paterson’s backline, Kidd will graduate in June with honours with a degree in Human Kinetics. Kidd played five seasons for the Heat and earned a Provincial All-Star in all five of them.
With just soccer and golf teams at UBC Okanagan competing in the PACWEST, the B.C. conference of the CCAA, only those athletes were eligible for awards in the CCAA this past season. The Heat placed two student athletes among the 127 across the nation that have combined excellence in collegiate athletics and academics.
