The Canadian Colleges Baseball Conference announced its all-stars Thurday, with three Cascades getting the nod.
University of the Fraser Valley infielder Riley Jepson was a first-team selection. The first baseman batted .351 through 15 regular season games, including six doubles and two homeruns.
Third baseman Brennan Hegel was a second-team selection. Like Jepson he played 15 games and showed a good eye at the plate with a .293 average and a 10-6 walk-to-strikeout ratio. Hegel was also a power producer for the Cascades, clubbing three homeruns and five doubles.
Evan Peterson was a second-team selection at pitcher. The hard-throwing righty struck out 20 batters and allowed 26 base runners over 22 innings, posting a 2.04 earned-run average.
The Prairie Baseball Academy vacuumed up the player awards that were also announced Thursday.
The Lethbridge-based program benefitted from playing the last palce Calgary Dinos all year, winning or sharing all 14 awards.
