The Alberni Valley Bulldogs have rescheduled their game against Trail Smoke Eaters to Monday, Dec. 14, 2015 at 6 p.m.
The Saturday contest was cancelled due to the storm whipping the West Coast that forced BC Ferries to cancel several routes. The Smoke Eaters had been enroute from Powell River where they defeated the Kings 4–2 last night.
The Bulldogs’ annual Teddy Bear Toss will take place Monday night, as will the Port Alberni Junior Hockey Society’s Winner’s Choice earlybird lottery draw for $3,000.
“Special thanks to the staff at the Alberni Valley Multiplex, the Mt Arrowsmith Skating club and the Alberni Valley Minor Hockey Association for helping facilitate the rescheduling of this game to Monday,” Bulldogs’ assistant coach Adam Hayduk said.

The Alberni Valley Bulldogs’ game scheduled for tonight (Dec. 12, 2015) against Trail Smoke Eaters has been cancelled. Trail is stuck on the mainland because BC Ferries has cancelled service to the Island due to strong winds.
Bulldogs’ spokesperson Jolie McMullan said the Bulldogs will try and play the game Monday night, but that will be dependent on whether Trail makes it to the Island on Sunday for their game against Cowichan Capitals and whether ice time is available.

The Bulldogs beat West Kelowna Warriors 4–2 in Friday night’s contest. Kelowna was leading 2–1 in the second period but Eric Margo tied it and Josh Adkins scored twice in the third period to seal the win.
Friday was Owen Johnson’s first game in a Bulldogs’ uniform after the ‘Dogs and Surrey Eagles swapped defencemen—Alberni sending 1995-born blueliner Tyler Cooper to the Eagles for 20-year-old Johnson.
“Owen is a 20-year-old who’s got more experience in the BCHL,” Bulldogs’ coach Kevin Willison said Friday afternoon. “We’re looking to him for leadership. We need a little bit of improvement on the back and these kinds of trades don’t come every day. We had to give up youth to get a veteran.”
The Bulldogs still have a couple of cards free to use prior to the Jan. 10, 2016 B.C. Hockey League trading deadline. The Bulldogs are playing with a short bench and some affiliated players these days as injuries have claimed some of the team’s regular players, Willison said.
ICE CHIPS…Saturday’s game was supposed to be the Bulldogs’ Teddy Bear Toss. If anyone has a stuffie but cannot attend the rescheduled game, they’re welcome to drop their stuffies off at the Bulldogs’ office at the AV Multiplex. The team will do the Teddy Bear Toss at the rescheduled game.
