The Ridge Meadows Flames took a 3-0 lead over the Aldergrove Kodiaks in the first round of the junior B playoffs with a 6-2 win Saturday at home.
The Flames led 4-1 after the first period and never relented.
Logan Hunter, Halen Cordoni, Andrew Strelezki and Liam Evenson all scored in the opening frame. Ryan Wellburn had two assists, while Ryley Lanthier, Nicolas Georgeopoulos, Jonah Lige, Cordoni and Strelezki each had one.
Lanthier, from Cordoni, scored in the second as the teams traded goals.
Hunter added a powerplay marker in the third, from Lige and Wellburn.
On Friday, Taylor Seganfreddo scored at 8:02 of overtime Friday to give the Flames a 2-1 victory over the visiting Kodiaks.
Trailing 1-0 Friday, Joshua Gibbons, from Strelezki and Cordoni, scored midway through the opening frame to tie the game. Cordoni and Strelezki also assisted on Seganfreddo’s OT winner.
Davin Padgham scored for Aldergrove.
Paul Tucek made 41 saves, eight more than Aldergrove’s Michael Lauriente, for the win.
The Flames, winners of the Harold Brittain Conference during the regular season, opened the Pacific Junior Hockey League playoffs Wednesday in Aldergrove with a 7-5 win.
