UPDATE: Strong showing by Langley Selects at 10-day tournament

Twelve teams competed in round-robin series

The Langley Baseball 9 Selects all-star team finished a strong second at the close of a 10-day, 12-team tournament in City Park that wrapped up Sunday (July 15) at City park.

Langley lost to Trout Lake in the final, 12-9.

Coquitlam finished third.

“Our kids played some amazing baseball over the 10-day tournament and our pitching was extremely strong,” said Selects head coach Kris Johnson.

The Langley boys fought hard to make it to the finals, beating Dunbar in the quarterfinals and Jericho in the semifinals.

The event potentially lays the groundwork for international competition down the road.

“This is really a growth league for Little League,” said Johnson.

“All these teams, in the next three to four years , their biggest goal is to get to the Little League world series which is in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.”

“It’s a really good experience for a lot of the kids,” Johnson said.
