Local boys take on Vancouver College in 4A basketball provincials today

The Oak Bay senior boys basketball team’s provincial run came to an end this afternoon (March 9) with an 86-68 loss to Vancouver College.

The team was out of top four contention at the 4A basketball provincials in Langley after an upset last night.

The senior boys from Oak Bay High fell to Burnaby South 66-78.

The team started with a resounding 89-36 win over Mount Baker on March 7.

The biggest tier in the province has seen the most higher seeds fall as one semifinal will feature the No. 2 Tamanawis Wildcats and the No. 6 Semiahmoo Totems — a pair of Fraser Valley rivals — while the other pits the No. 8 Burnaby South Rebels and the upstart Belmont Bulldogs, the No. 13 seed.

Belmont faces Burnaby South tonight at 7:30 p.m.
