US riders enjoy Castlegar mountains and sculptures during bike ride through loop

Around 30 cyclists from throughout Canada and the United States passed through Castlegar yesterday as part of the WaCanId bike ride.

Around 30 cyclists from throughout Canada and the United States passed through Castlegar yesterday as part of the WaCanId bike ride. The ride consists for riders from Washington, Canada, and Idaho (forming the WaCanId), as well as other parts of the US including Utah, Tennessee, and Alaska.

The riders started off in Sandpoint, Idaho and will travel through the Selkirk Loop and back to Sandpoint. The riders stop in all the local communities and are met by Rotarians who have snacks, water, gatorade, and also inform them of the local sights and eateries for lunch and more snacks.

“The supports been very good,” said rider Rick Olexick from Orting, Washington. “The roads have been fantastic.”
