The start of the Valley Huskers season is just around the corner and eight local players will be suiting up for the B.C. Football Conference team.
Defensive back Jason Ghag returns for his fourth season with the Huskers. Ghag played high school ball with W.J. Mouat. He is coming off a solid season with 37 tackles, one interception and four pass deflections.
Another Huskers veteran and Abbotsford native, Gary Kasongo Lumeka, enters his fourth season with the team. Last season, the 5’8” fullback tallied 37 yards on 10 attempts in three games played.
Local product defensive back Daniel Mills will be returning for his second season with Valley. Mills accumulated 18 tackles, two interceptions and three deflections last season. He was named 2014 Huskers Defensive Rookie of the Year.
In addition, defensive lineman Kyle Cummings is returning for his second season, along with receiver and punt returner Keenan Godden.
Defensive backs Gurtaj Bhangu and Cody Lawlor will also be making their debuts with the Huskers this year, along with 6’3” quarterback Noah Falconer.
The season opener is at Exhibition Field on July 25 at 7 p.m.
