Vanderhoof girl wins fourth in B.C. for 400-metre race

Results of the nine boys and girls from Nechako Valley Secondary who travelled to Nanaimo for the track and field high school provincials.

Results of the nine boys and girls from Nechako Valley Secondary travelled to Nanaimo for the 49th Annual Track and Field Provincial High School Championships on June 2 to 4 are as follows:

Matthew Ebert of Nechako Valley Secondary School places fifth in the senior boys discus throw, with 35.01 metres.

Emma Floris is now the fourth fastest senior girl in B.C for the 400-metre race. She completed the event in 57. 65 seconds — a new school record — which was two seconds faster than during the heats. She also placed seventh in the 200-metre race in a time of 26.82 seconds.

Ethan Floris placed eighth in the 200-metre in a time of 26.34 seconds for Grade 8 boys.

Simon Nemethy placed eighth in the 1500-metre steeplechase in a time of 4 minutes 43 seconds — a new school record — for the junior boys.

Cohen Thiessen placed 15th in the junior boys hammer throw, throwing 19.34 metres.

Christina Askeland placed 27th in the junior girls hammer throw, throwing 16.76 metres.

Elliot Tone placed 21st in the 3000-metre race for Grade 8 boys in a time of 11 minutes 31 seconds.

Jacob Hascarl placed 25th in the senior boys hammer throw throwing 14.78 metres.

Sara McBride placed 14th in the Discus throw throwing 22.98 metres in the senior girls event.
