Scott Conway has done it again for the Penticton Vees.

The 20 year old forward buried his seventh game-winner to help lead the Vees past the Merritt Centennials 8-4 final at the Nicola Valley Arena Saturday night. It’s their 17th straight win.

The goal was Conway’s 16th and he added two helpers on goals by Easton Brodzinski, who potted a hat-trick and four point. Brodzinski assisted on the winning goal, as did Nicholas Jones, who racked up five assists.

The Vees found themselves leading 2-0 on goals from Luke Voltin and Tyson Jost. The Centennials evened things up on goals by Colin Grannary in the final four minutes of the opening period.

Grannary then gave the Centennials a 3-2 lead as he beat Anthony Brodeur 56 seconds into the second period. That lead was short-lived as Voltin set up Demico Hannoun at 1:16 for his third goal of the season. Brodzinski then scored the first of his three goals three minutes later to give the Vees a 4-3 lead. Mitch Lipon scored the Centennials’ last goal more than a minute later.

In the third period, Brodzinski and Jost scored the Vees three goals. They have 14 and 16 goals each, respectively.

Conway’s winning tally was scored on the man advantage, which went four-for-seven, firing at 57 per cent. The Vees’ penalty-kill allowed one goal on four chances. Brodeur made 23 saves and improved his record to 11-0-0 with a 1.77 goals against average and .932 save percentage. Colten Lancaster finished with 33 saves in the loss.

In other BCHL action, the Alberni Valley Bulldogs hosted the Nanaimo Clippers and doubled them up 4-2, while the West Kelowna Warriors hosted the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and defeated them 3-1.
