Penticton Vees rookie forward Jack Ramsey has been named to the 40-man roster for the second annual CCM / USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game Sept. 26 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The game, to be held at the CONSOL Energy Center, features 40 of the top draft eligible prospects for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Ramsey is one of 28 players named to the Prospects Game that appear on NHL Central Scouting’s “Futures List,” which highlights players pegged to go in the top 60 of the draft.
Ramsey, 17, is entering his first season with the Vees after playing high school hockey in his hometown of Minnetonka, Minn. Last season as a junior, Ramsey collected nine goals and 27 points in 24 games. He is committed to play for the Minnesota Golden Gophers in the fall of 2014. Vees incoming goalie recruit Hunter Miska suited up in the inaugural event last year in Buffalo, NY.
Ramsey makes his Vees debut tonight when the Vees host the West Kelowna Warriors in the back half of a home-and-home. The two teams tied 3-3 Sunday night in West Kelowna. Scoring for the Vees were Liam Finlay, Max Coatta and Cam Amantea with 33 seconds left in the third. Hunter Miska stopped all 15 shots he faced in 30 minutes of action, while Brendan Barry made seven saves on 10 shots.
Face-off tonight is 7 p.m. at the South Okanagan Events Centre and tickets are $5 across the board. Tickets are available at the Valley First Box Office at the SOEC or online at www.valleyfirsttix.com
