The Penticton Vees captain did it again. Brad McClure was clutch in helping his team sweep a home-and-home series against the Merritt Centennials, which puts some distance, seven points, between the teams.
McClure delivered the final blow to a Centennials team that trailed 3-1 and 4-2 to eventually make it 4-4. McClure’s goal came with 40 seconds left in the game. He finished with three points as McClure had given his team a 4-2 lead and also assisted on Steen Cooper’s first goal as a Vee, coming on the power-play. The Vees man advantage struck three times on five chances. The Vees opened the scoring on the power-play thanks to Brett Beauvais who was set up by Ben Dalpe and Cooper, who collected his first point as a Vees in his second game.
Also having a three-point game for the Vees was Beauvais, adding two helpers. The Centennials offence came from Scott Patterson with two, Diego Cuglietta and Sam Johnson.
Hunter Miska turned aside 38 shots for his 10th win of the season. He now has four wins on the road.
Tonight the Vees host the Surrey Eagles, which is a re-match of last year’s Fred Page Cup championship. Game begins in the South Okanagan Events Centre at 6 p.m.
