The Penticton Vees swept their Vancouver Island road trip with a 3-2 come from behind win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 heading into the third period at the Weyerhaeuser Arena, Vees captain Tyson Jost led the comeback. He scored his 34th goal of the season on a play set up by Scott Conway at 11:24. More than two minutes later, Jost set up Dante Fabbro for his 12th goal to even the score at two. The Vees buried the winner just over a minute later on the power play as Nicholas Jones and Demico Hannoun set up Fabbro, named the game’s second star.

The Vees went one-for-six on the power play, while the Bulldogs went two-for-six. Zachary Driscoll made 23 saves for the win, while Brody Claeys turned aside 32 shots and was named the game’s first star.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 9:51 of the first on a goal by Ryan Finnegan, his seventh, set up by Paul Meyer and Nathan Dingmann. At 18:27 of the second, Dingmann scored his 19th with assists to Chris Schutz and Finnegan.

The win improves the Vees to 44-6-0-1 to become Ron Boileau Memorial trophy winners as the BCHL regular season champs for the second straight year, while the Bulldogs are 19-25-3-3.

The Vees are also now the top ranked junior A team in Canada.
