The Vernon Venom struck Under 16 boys volleyball gold at the East Kootenay Memorial Cup in Cranbrook.
The boys beat out two Calgary club teams to win the gold.
After the first day, the Venom found themselves were third out of six teams, advancing to the semifinals against the Calgary Vibe. Vernon worked hard to beat them in two sets.
In the finals, the boys played Canada West, also from Calgary. The Venom squeaked out a 26-24 first set win, and then rallied from a seven-point deficit to take the second set 26-24 to take gold.
The Venom will play in provincials, May 5-6.
