The Vernon Magnums are headed into the Southern Interior Junior Bantam Football Conference playoffs on a high.
The Magnums wrapped up the regular season with a 44-0 dismantling of the Kamloops Broncos Sunday at Grahame Park.
Vernon’s Zac Smith led the way with 100 yards rushing and a touchdown, 49 yards receiving and 60 yards passing. Ethan Anderson racked up 46 yards rushing and two TDs, and threw for 30 yards, with one interception.
Defensively, the Magnums gave the Broncos fits, with linebacker Trey Winstanley grinding out 10 tackles and two sacks. He also ran two 10-yard conversions.
Charles Lemay delivered five tackles, and added 62 offensive yards and a TD. Ethan Schiman had two tackles, a fumble recovery and a sack. Logan Higgs, Thomas Hyett and Isaiah Ondrik all had three tackles. Higgs and Ondrik each supplied TDs. Defensive end Devin Hofsink had four tackles.
Meanwhile, the Pee Wee Magnums finished the regular season at 4-2 after a 43-0 whipping of the Broncos Sunday at Grahame.
The Magnums set the tone early with three touchdowns in the first five minutes. Kamloops’ offence finally got on the field, only to have its first pass attempt picked off and returned for another score.
Ethan Mitchell was a machine for the Magnums, recording six TDs, two resulting from interceptions. Running back Kohl Killingbeck, who rushed for 72 yards, and Jaret Cooper also had solid offensive games for Vernon.
