The Vernon Panthers rallied from an opening-day loss to finish seventh at the Bill Kushnir Memorial Senior Boys Basketball Tournament Friday in Delta.
The 12-team tourney featured B.C.’s top-two AAAA teams, plus four of the top-10 AAA schools.
The AAA Panthers stuffed the No. 4 North Delta AAA Huskies 60-58 in their final game. John Garvie hit a pair of late free throws as part of his 20-points to seal the win.
The Cats trailed North Delta all game, but they clawed back to tie it in the final minute.
Shelby Hartwig, with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and Andy Hladik, with a dozen points, were big for VSS.
Hartwig was named to the all-star team.
Vernon opened the tourney Wednesday with an 82-54 loss to the host Delta Pacers.
Glenn Garvie’s Panthers struggled from the field, with Garvie canning 18 points and Chris Inscho supplying 13.
The Cats got it rolling Thursday with a total team effort to take down the Notre Dame Jugglers of Vancouver 71-63.
They were led by bench players Zach Kraunbauer, Liam Paulson, Ty Thomas and Spenser Shaw.
Inscho drained 27 points and Hartwig fired 19.
