Kolten Kirschner scored the try for the Maroons, who led 5-0 at the half. No results were reported by the Panthers.

“There will be some sore kids after that contest,” said Fulton coach Mike Scheller. “It was a very physical game between two fairly evenly-matched teams. That being said, VSS deserved the win. They maintained most of the possession and held a huge hunk of territory in the game.

“We spent most of the game tackling and that takes a lot of effort to continually tackle. VSS did a good job of retaining their ball and stealing some of ours. They held the ball for most of the game and congratulations to them on their win.”

Scheller praised his boys for a gutsy effort, especially citing flanker Lucas Hofer, who “was all over the field for us and is a warrior out there. He is an efficient tackler.”

Lock Jordan Cabrejos and prop Tanner Bishop played it tough for Fulton, while eighth man Kacey Smart recorded several tackles.

Fulton plays in the Okanagan 7s tournament at KSS today.
