The UBCO Junior Heat won the U17 basketball SFU Spring Fling last weekend.
Kristy Fugel and Anna Rice, both of the VSS Panthers, Megan Rouault of the Fulton Maroons and Jenna Mulholland of the Charles Bloom Timberwolves play for the Heat.
Rouault sank five points as the Heat stopped the U16 AthElite Selects 47-41 in the final. Rouault chipped in with five points.
Rouault drained six points as the Heat opened with a 38-26 win over Strathcona of Edmonton.
The Heat iced the U17 AthElite Selects 55-16 behind a dozen points from Rouault.
“Our main focus was to get better as the weekend went on which we did,” said Heat coach Claire Meadows, assisted by Vernon’s Bobby Mitchell. “We have some really good things to build on moving forward and a few things to focus on and improve on as we get back to practice this week.”
