Vernon Royals court playoff berth at UBCO tourney

Vernon Christian Royals rank second in pool at UBC Okanagan Senior Girls Volleyball Invitational.

The Vernon Christian Royals came out firing at the UBC Okanagan Senior Girls Volleyball Invitational, sealing second place in their pool after Friday’s action.

The Royals started with a two-set smothering (25-9, 25-21) of the Keremeos Sparks, opening up an explosive 13-0 lead on the back of strong serving by Clare Thiessen.

VCS took a step back against the strong-hitting Valleyview Vikings of Kamloops, falling 25-11, 25-14 in their second tilt. The girls then regrouped and brought a strong attack in their final match of the day against the Grand Forks Wolves, winning 23-25, 25-15, 15-12.

The Royals faced the Cedars Christian Eagles of Prince George in Saturday playoff action.
