Vernon Ski Club (VSC) athletes dominated the recent Nancy Greene Ski League races at the spectacular Revelstoke Resort.
A total of 11 locals reached the podium in 15 different age categories on the challenging Giant Slalom course.
In the 2002 Girls group, Vernon owned the podium with Rane Smith finishing first, followed by Emma Lockwood and Katrina Fink. Jamie Trow won the 2002 boys race with an almost two-second margin of victory.
In the 2003 category, Natasha Jones struck goldwith a margin of victory in excess of two seconds. Alexus Schindel and Christopher Kersey both narrowly missed the podium with impressive fourth- place finishes.
Vernon ruled the 2004 boys class, with Parker Munroe speeding to first place and teammate Rowan Trow close behind. Lauren Clancy narrowly missed the podium in the 2004 girls race, powering her way to a strong fourth.
In the 2005 division, Charlotte Wargniez claimed second and Natalie Fux was third. Hunter Schindel was the top 2005 boy, finishing fifth.
In the 2006 girls race, Camryn Steele snagged gold, while Jake Blankley took third place for the boys.
In the 2007 age group, Alexandre Wargniez took home a fourth, Sean Robinson was fifth and Sierra Munroe was the leading VSC girl in eighth. In the 2008 race, the youngest group of racers in the event, Vernon’s Asher Kuiken produced gold.
