Vernon Vipers acquire d-men from Grizzlies

Vernon Vipers complete four-player BCHL deal with Victoria Grizzlies.

The Vernon Vipers will have two new faces in their lineup Friday night when they host the Salmon Arm Silverbacks at Kal Tire Place.

In his first act as Vipers’ GM, Mark Ferner acquired a pair of defencemen in a four-player trade with the Victoria Grizzlies Wednesday afternoon. Joining the Snake Pit are 18-year-old Mitch Meek and 20-year-old Brandon Egli, plus future considerations, in exchange for d-man Jake Emilio and forward Ayden MacDonald.

Meek and Egli are both veterans of the BCHL, having appeared in a combined 211 games. Meek has one goal and one assist in six games with the Grizz, and is committed to the NCAA Division 1 Clarkson Golden Knights for next season.

Egli, who is committed to the UMass Minutemen, racked up 11 goals and 35 points last season with Victoria. He started this season in the USHL, but returned to Vic, where he has no points in two games.
