Liam Coughlin netted the winner with 1:58 to play as the Vernon Vipers shaded the Salmon Arm SilverBacks 3-2 in B.C. Hockey League play Friday night at Kal Tire Place.
Anthony Latina and Thomas Aldworth, on a shorthanded breakaway, pocketed singles for Vernon, who handed the ‘Backs their fourth consecutive loss. Replying for Salmon Arm were Taro Hirose and Chase Priskie.
Jarrod Schamerhorn made 21 stops for his second straight win, while Angus Redmond recorded 27 saves for the visitors.
Vernon, now 4-3-0-1, entertain the 5-1 Chilliwack Chiefs Saturday at the Big Wheel. The Silverbacks dipped to 3-3-0-2, one point back of Vernon.
