Vernon’s Matthew Kreutz finished the fourth round of the BC Amateur Golf Championship

Vernon’s Matthew Kreutz finished the fourth round of the BC Amateur Golf Championship at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum Beach on Friday with a 78.

Kreutz carded the six-over-par in the last round, earning him a tie at 51st place in the tournament with a four-round total of 299. He finished at 11 over par overall with 12 birdies and 15 bogies.

Nolan Thoroughgood, of Royal Colwood in Victoria, won the tournament with a 281, finishing seven under par. Runner-up A.J. Ewart, of Pitt Meadows in Coquitlam, was two strokes back at 283.

Kreutz, who spent his first year of university in Minot North Dakota playing for the Minot State Beavers, played his junior golf representing the Vernon and Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club. He is now working and playing out of Predator Ridge.
