Vest golfs way to Kids Worlds

Most Grade 2 kids are busy playing with Legos or pretending to be Batman. Ryan Vest has traded in his bricks and cape for a set of clubs.

The seven-year-old is busy dominating the links across North America.

Vest is the next golfing prodigy to come out of Vernon.

It started back in February when Vest tore up the links down in Phoenix at the 2014 Desert Shootout at The Wigwam Golf Course.

He shot 44-38-76 to finish in a three-way tie for fifth place to receive his first golf trophy.

His three-way tie has now earned him a spot at the U.S. Kids 2014 World Championship July 31-August 2, in Pinehurst, N.C.

“I am very excited,” said Vest. “I just want to golf, I love it.”

The little man of few words has been gearing up  for the golf season by putting in the front yard with his dad and practising at Predator Ridge.

“I like the five iron. It goes a good distance and I am accurate with it,” said Vest.

Vest has also been invited to two more marquee events this summer.

He is going to the 2014 Canadian Invitational July 7-8, at Royal Niagara Golf Club in Niagara Falls, Ont.

Vest will head back to the U.S. for the Seaview Open Aug. 30-31, at Seaview Golf Resort in Galloway, N.J.
