Team hits the road this weekend before Family Fun Night

The Victoria Grizzlies are on a hot steak as they hit the road this weekend.

Looking to continue their best run of the season the team takes on Wenatchee Friday night before facing off against Langley on Saturday and Chilliwack on Sunday.

Last Sunday, the team bested Powell River 6-2 in B.C. Hockey League action at The Q Centre.

Marty Westhaver opened scoring for the Grizzlies roughly half way into the first.

Not to be outdone, Justin Michaelian added one of his own from Shawn O’Malley and Jarin Sutton, and another unassisted near the end of the frame.

Alex Newhook opened scoring in the second for the Grizzlies with a goal from Ethan Nother and Jamie Rome, and Michaelian tallied another from Rome and Carter Berger.

The Kings got on the board in the third with two goals near the beginning of the frame. But the Grizzlies’ Lucas Clark closed scoring with a goal from Newhook and Berger.

The Grizzlies also beat the Alberni Valley Bulldogs 3-0 last Friday at home. The Grizzlies tallied goals in each of the frames with Nother opening scoring with an unassisted goal. Matthew Doran added one in the second from Berger and Clark, which was followed by one from Cameron Thompson from T.J. Friedmann and Rome.

The Grizzlies finished the weekend at the top of the Island standings with a record of 24-14-3-2.

The local squad returns to The Q Centre in Colwood next Friday, Jan. 26 for Family Fun Night.
