Victoria HarbourCats offer free seats to first-timers

Baseball team opens gates to anyone who's never watched a game at RAF.

The Victoria HarbourCats have been around since 2013 and if you’ve never been to a game, team officials are offering you a chance to break the ice.

Tonight’s home game against the Port Angeles Lefties will be free for anyone who has yet to see a baseball game at Royal Athletic Park.

“We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience a HarbourCats game, and of course we hope those who try it once will come back again soon,” said Jim Swanson, managing partner for the team.

Just show up to the ticket window, say it’s your first time and you’ll be let in to sit in any of the general admission seating areas (rush seating, silver bleacher).

Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and the first pitch is scheduled to be thrown at 6:35 p.m.

More than 60,000 fans attended HarbourCats games last year, which led the West Coast League in attendance and ranked ninth in North America for summer-collegiate ball clubs.
