The Victoria Royals registered five consecutive markers to defeat the Spokane Chiefs 6-2 on Sunday night, winning the best-of-seven series.

Royals’ Tyler Soy led the way for the club offensively as he tallied four points (2g-2a) and was named the game’s first star.

Victoria’s Scott Walford registered the game-winner, while Jack Walker and Matthew Phillips rounded out the scoring for the visitors. Spokane’s Jordan Henderson and Keanu Yamamoto recorded the homeside’s goals.

Victoria goaltender Griffen Outhouse turned aside 24 of the 26 shots directed his way. Chiefs’ netminder Lasse Petersen stopped 19 of the 25 pucks fired at him.

Victoria will have home ice advantage in round two against the winner of the Kelowna Rockets versus Kamloops Blazers series.

Games one and two of the next round are scheduled for Thursday, April 7 and Saturday, April 9.

Puck drop for both contests is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
