The Victoria Royals 1994-born forward Austin Carroll has signed a three-year entry level contract with the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Calgary Flames.
This season, Carroll led Victoria in goals (38) and points (77) as he set the Royals’ single season record in both categories. He also set the all-time franchise mark for career game winning goals and penalty minutes with 19 and 470 respectively.
The Scottsdale, AZ product has spent his entire WHL career (2011-2015) with the Royals. Carroll ranks as the fourth-leading scorer in Victoria/Chilliwack franchise history with 196 points (95g-101a) in 268 games.
The 6-3, 214 lb winger was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the seventh round with the 184th overall pick in the 2014 NHL Draft.
Carroll was selected by the Chilliwack Bruins in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft in the ninth round, 179th overall. Before Carroll joined the Royals, he played one season with the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL where he skated in 42 games and posted 11 points (6g-5a) and 28 penalty minutes
