The Victoria Shamrocks have announced they will host their first ever Lacrosse Hot Stove event (Apr. 18, 6:30 p.m.) at the Metropolitan Grill at Four Points Sheraton.
The event will be headlined by past and present ‘Rocks including current stars Rhys Duch, Corey Small and Tyler Burton, as well as notable alumni such as Kevin Alexander and Grant Hamilton.
Alexander’s lacrosse resume includes a pair of Mann Cup championships in 1979 and 1983 as well as a period from 1980-1985 where he led the Western Lacrosse Association in scoring for five of six seasons.
Hamilton was named the league’s MVP and led the Shamrocks to a championship in 1997.
Duch, Small and Burton are Shamrocks veterans and were key cogs in the team’s 2015 Mann Cup win.
Radio personality Steve Duffy and Shamrocks alumni and play-by-play voice Teddy Jenner will emcee.
Tickets go on sale today (Mar. 17).
The Shamrocks are also hosting a St. Patrick’s Shoot Around on Sunday (12-4 p.m.) at Braefoot Park in Saanich. Families are invited to bring their lacrosse sticks and gloves for a chance to play with their favourite Shamrocks players.
Player signings and what the team is calling “an important organizational announcement” will be made at 2 p.m.
