The Victoria Royals play a pair of Western Hockey League games against Western Conference rivals Tri-City Americans this weekend (Nov. 1 and 2) at Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena.
Sunday afternoon is Marty the Marmot’s ninth birthday presented by Island Savings. Sunday’s game also marks the first Kirby’s Source for Sports’ Skate with the players after the game.
Marty will be joined for the event by his mascot friends including: Turbo (Harbour Air), Daisy the Cow (Island Farms), Sidney the Kidney (Kidney Foundation of Canada), Ace (Saanich PD), Santa Bear (CFAX Santas Anonymous), Cooper (Co-op Gas), Terry the Trader (Sports Traders), Harvey (Harbour Cats), Striker (Victoria Highlanders FC) and Rocky (Victoria Shamrocks).
FILLING THE NET … With two goals in Saturday night’s 3-2 victory over the Vancouver Giants, Royals’ forward Austin Carroll is currently tied for first in WHL goal scoring with 10 goals in 13 games. The Calgary Flames’ draft pick has 19 points (10g-9a) in 13 games to lead Victoria in scoring.
