The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds and the Okanagan Rockets split a pair of games over the weekend in British Columbia Major Midget League action.
The Thunderbirds downed the Rockets 4-3 on Saturday at the Abbotsford Centre, building up a 4-1 lead early into the third period and hanging on for the win.
Fraser Valley goal scorers on Saturday were: Jacob Wright (two), Jackson Mainse and Zackary Funk.
The teams clashed again on Sunday, with the Rockets earning the 5-3 win. Fraser Valley fell behind 3-0 early into the second period, and couldn’t manage to come back.
Wright collected a hat trick in the loss.
Fraser Valley sits atop the BCMML standings with a record of 20-4-1-1. The team next has a home-and-home pair of games against the Vancouver North East Chiefs on Jan. 26 and 27. The club takes on the Chiefs at the Langley Events Centre on Jan. 26 at 7 p.m., and then battles the Chiefs in Burnaby on Jan. 27 at 11:30 a.m.
