Volleyball camp focuses on skills

Penticton Volleyball Camp helped 75 kids aged 12 to 17 work on their skills

Seventy kids aged 12 to 17 kicked off their summer break by hitting the courts in the Penticton Volleyball Camp.

Operating since 1995, the camp was held at Maggie, for kids ages 12 to 14, and Pen High, ages 15 to 17. Instructors in the camp work with the kids on skill development. Rich Corrie, a teacher from Maggie, is one of the main instructors along with co-worker John Buckley and Pen High teacher Rob Gunning.

“It’s been going great,” said Corrie. “The kids have been enthusiastic and we keep it pretty light.”

While working on skills, they put the kids in small three-on-three games and various drills. The camp hit the beach courts at Skaha Lake on Thursday.

Along with several local kids taking part, Penticton Volleyball camp also had a couple of kids from Thailand and Washington State, who are visiting family.
