Penticton’s Volleytech Volleyball Club enjoyed success during the 2013 Beach National Championship at Vancouver’s Spanish Banks during the Aug. 24 weekend.

Brayden Wheeler (Pen High) and Kyle Kohlhauser (Princess Margaret) placed second in the Tier 2 16 and under group. Logan Mend and Blaire Anderson tied for fifth in the Tier 1 out of 32 teams, while Kaylie Loewen and Shimen Fyad teamed up to finish fifth in Tier 1.

“Kaylie had a good weekend,” said co-coach Paul Mend. “She played her best beach volleyball of the year.”

Mend said it was a good tournament for Logan Mend and Anderson as they went in ranked No.3. After going 3-0 in pool play, they lost to last year’s national champions and the eventual 2013 champs.
