Vote for Mount Washington on Nov. 3-4

A win against Red Mountain in Elite 8 would put 'Washy' through to next round of Ski Town Throwdown on Nov. 5-6

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is through to the Great White North division final of Powder Magazine’s 2014 Ski Town Throwdown.

The competition intensifies this week with two rounds of voting – Nov. 3-4 and Nov. 5-6. “The time is now to Vote for Washy in the Elite 8 round of Powder Magazine’s Ski Town Throwdown,” said Mount Washington spokesperson Brent Curtain.

“We’re up against the legendary ski town of Rossland (Red Mountain). This round of the competition will be very tough. They won the Throwdown two years ago. There are a couple of changes to the voting process in this round. You have to register, then login to vote. A little more effort but still worth your time! The voting in this round lasts two days and you can vote once each day. Voting ends at 5 p.m. PST tomorrow (Nov. 4),” Curtain noted.

To vote, follow this link: http://m.powder.com/ski-town-throwdown-iii/ or visit the Mount Washington website (www.mountwashington.ca).

“Washy” defeated Whitewater (Nelson, B.C.) on Oct. 27 with a vote count of 15,271 to 7,557. “Those numbers are simply unbelievable. We had more votes than the town of Nelson has people!” said Curtain.

“The support from our Island community has been astounding. This competition and our current success has created some buzz in the ski industry. Skiers and boarders from afar are beginning to realize that there’s an awesome place to ski and board on an island in the Pacific,” Curtain added.

A win over Red Mountain would move Mount Washington on to the Backscratcher Conference final on Nov. 5-6 against the winner of the Far West division.

That winner will take on the winner of the Spread Eagle Conference (Big East vs. Rocky Mountain West) in the Nov. 10-14 championship final.

“Washy’ won an eight-resort play-in round on Oct. 8 then defeated Revelstoke on Oct. 13 in the 32-resort competition.
