The Warriors had a big crowd Friday night after news broke this week the franchise was being sold.

It was the biggest crowd since the West Kelowna Warriors held its season opener this season and raised the Royal Bank Cup Canadian junior A championship banner.

There were 1,313 fans at RLP in West Kelowna last night, watching the Warriors lose to Vernon 2-1.

The only other bigger crowd this year was the season opener when 1.389 fans came out, still short of a sellout in RLP, which can house over 1,500 fans.

Last night was just the fourth time the team had brought out more than 1,000 fans this season, two previous games against Penticton as well as another against Wenatchee.

The rest of the season the team has drawn anywhere from a low of 626 fans to an average around 7 or 800.

The large crowd came out after word broke this week the team has a letter of intent signed with a group from North Delta with 2016-17 expected to be the last season for the Warriors in West Kelowna.
