Jon Russell and the West Kelowna Warriors beat Powell River and Nanaimo to close out their pre-Christmas schedule.

Their longest winning streak of the B.C. Hockey League season should have the West Kelowna Warriors in a relatively festive mood for the holiday season.

After a sweep at home over the weekend, the Warriors have now won four in a row, boosting the defending RBC Cup champs into a tie for third spot in the Interior Division heading into the Christmas break.

On Friday night at Royal LePage Place, the Warriors (17-16-1-0) took care of the Powell River Kings 6-1. Peter Tomaras had a goal and an assist, while Shane Farkas stopped 35 shots in the Warrior net, including 13 in the third period.

Farkas was on his game again on Saturday night, turning aside another 41 shots in a 2-1 West Kelowna win over the visiting Nanaimo Clippers.

Farkas, who stopped 22 shots in the third period, lost his shutout bid with just 1:14 left in the game.

Logan Mostat scored the game winner at 12:48 of the third, his second goal in as many nights for the Warriors.

Following the break, the Warriors have a home-and-home set against the Trail Smoke Eaters, Thursday, Dec. 29 at Royal LePage, and Friday, Dec. 30 in Trail.
