Warriors to meet Vees in pre-season doubleheader

West Kelowna 0-1-1 in BCHL pre season as they prepare for two weekend games against Penticton

The West Kelowna Warriors continue their tune up for the 2014-15 BCHL season with a pair of pre-season games this weekend against their South Okanagan rivals.

On Friday, the Warriors will visit the Penticton Vees in a 7 p.m. face off.

On Saturday, the teams will meet for a rematch at Royal LePage Place in another 7 o’clock start.

Both games will be broadcast on the new radio partner of the Warriors, WDCR. Tune in at 95.1 FM or online at www.wdcr.ca.

The Warriors launched their preseason over the weekend with a pair of losses to the Merritt Centennials.

On Saturday in West Kelowna, the Centennials squeezed out a 6-5 victory in overtime.

Jake Harrison, Parker Ward, Julian Uhrynuik, Greydon Robinson and Eric Theander scored for the Warriors.

Matt Mitchell played the opening 32 minutes in the West Kelowna goal allowing three goals on 17 shots. Austin Piquette went the rest of the way, allowing three goals on 19 shots.

On Sunday in Merritt, the Cents posted a 7-2 win. Josh Bly scored both goals for the Warriors.

The Warriors will play a total of six exhibition games, before kicking off the regular season Friday, Sept. 19 against Coquitlam at the league’s showcase weekend in Chilliwack.
