Weather doesn’t dampen fishing derby

In foggy and chilly conditions more than 50 kids under the age of 12 took part in the 20th annual Kids Fishing Derby last Sunday

In foggy and chilly conditions more than 50 kids under the age of 12 took part in the 20th annual Kids Fishing Derby last Sunday.

The annual Father’s Day event took place at the Salmon Arm wharf starting at 7 a.m. Sadi Weed was up bright and early and claimed the event’s first catch of the morning, receiving the first fish award.

Siblings Koyen and Jayda Koppi placed second and third for the most fish caught category, respectively.

Jayda reeled in six fish, while Coyen managed to catch eight on the day.

The angler with the most fish caught during the event was Cadence Tulak, hauling in 11 fish.

Ailyn Page and River Richly were both hidden weight winners.

Catching the third largest fish of the day was Ben Morrison, followed by Tyson Campbell.

Taking home the top prize for the largest fish and winning the derby was Sebastian Sayers.
